Bath is still 'best in the South-West' in new Complete University Guide

The University of Bath has been ranked 12th in the UK in this year’s Complete University Guide league table.

The 12th place ranking means that once again Bath is top of the regional ranking for the South-West.

The University also ranked 7th for the proportion of graduates who are in graduate level employment or further study six months after graduation.

The league table, published today in association with The Independent newspaper, is based on the following nine measures:

  • Student satisfaction
  • Research assessment
  • Entry standards
  • Staff student ratio
  • Spending on academic services
  • Facilities spending
  • Good honours
  • Graduate prospects
  • Completion rates

Professor Glynis Breakwell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath, said: “Yet again we have performed well and our ranking reflects our commitment to providing a high quality education for our students.

“Particularly pleasing is our excellent performance in the ‘graduate prospects’ and ‘student completion’ aspects of the table – both key strengths of this University.

“This result reflects on the hard work of the whole University community to create a supportive learning environment for our students to flourish academically. This commitment is reflected in an increase in our student satisfaction score on last year.”

Individual subject rankings have also been published in the guide. Bath is again ranked 6th in the UK for the percentage of its subjects (81 per cent) appearing in the top ten subject-specific rankings.

The subject rankings have been created using the following four measures: student satisfaction; research assessment; entry standards; graduate prospects.
