Death of Dr Robin Cooke and funeral details

The University is sorry to announce the death of Dr Robin Cooke who lectured in material science from 1973 to 1997.

Dr Cooke gained a scholarship to Oxford where he read Physics from 1965. After his degree he went to Stoke where he completed a PhD in thermal shock resistance of Zirconia based ceramics.

From Stoke, Dr Cooke came to the University of Bath. He travelled to many parts of the world because of his expertise in his field and particularly enjoyed the North West Highlands of Scotland. He delighted in fell walking, rock climbing and mountaineering all over Britain.

He passed away at home in Biddulph, Stoke on 16 June after a long deterioration in health.

The funeral is to be at the Newcastle-under-Lyme crematorium, Bradwell, on Thursday 1 July at 12.30pm.

There will be a memorial at Torridon, North West Scotland on 4 September.
