Want to make it in the movies?

Please note: Applications for volunteers are now closed

If you’ve ever dreamed of a career in Hollywood then this summer might help you to make that first tentative step towards stardom.

The University is playing host to Monicker Productions over the summer as they use parts of the campus to shoot a new television comedy for Channel 4.

The film crew plan to be on campus for four weeks from this week (Monday 12 July) until Friday 6 August. They will then return from 30 August for a further two weeks until 10 September. That is 30 days of scheduled filming in total.

The comedy is written and directed by Victoria Pile and the team behind the BAFTA award-winning comedy “Green Wing”. It will be set on a fictitious university campus called Kirke University and is scheduled for broadcast on Channel 4 in early 2011.

Monicker Productions is looking for volunteers to get involved in the filming as either ‘runners’ for the film crew or ‘extras’ for certain scenes.

Whilst there is no payment for either role, it offers an excellent chance to get up close and see how a film crew works.

Anyone interested is asked to contact 2nd assistant director John Jennings on 07968 735210.
