South West teenagers invited for taste of uni life

As part of the University's Aimhigher programme, the University is running a residential UniTasters for Year 11 and 12 pupils this week.

The programme will run on 12 to 15 July for the Year 11 pupils and on the 19 to 22 July for the Year 12 pupils.

The aim is for young people to experience life as a student during these free residential UniTasters, and they will have the chance to take part in academic workshops of their choice (including biology, sports science, social sciences and engineering). They will also be given information, advice and guidance sessions regarding university/ course choices.

Eleven undergraduate students will be working for the event to provide information and details of their own experiences. This is a very successful part of the event as the answers that they provide will be very honest and varied.

Stephanie Gan who manages the event said: “We hope that the young people leave us feeling much more empowered and informed about making decisions regarding Higher Education”. For more details please contact Stephanie in the Education Liaison & Outreach Office on 01225 383554

The event is sponsored by Aimhigher for the Year 11 event and South West RDA for the year 12 event.
