A band made up of four Bath students and alumni has made it through to the final of an international songwriting competition.
The line-up of the band called Roadshow is as follows:
Andy Liszewski – Mechanical Engineering – lead singer/songwriter;
Elliot Ball – Psychology – drummer;
Jake Smith – Civil Engineering – bassist;
Nicole Fermie – Social Sciences – lead guitarist.
The students entered their song entitled ‘To the lights’ into the annual YouBloom Song Contest and it successfully got through the first three rounds to reach the final.
The winners of the first two rounds were decided by online votes, whereas in the third round a panel of accomplished judges (including Bob Geldof, Damion “Damizza” Young, Nigel Grainge and Rupert Hine) chose ‘To the lights’ along with seven other promising songs to compete in the final.
Songwriter Andy said: “We’d really appreciate the support of the University community in the form of online votes. If we win this first stage of the final, we would get to claim £2,000 to use on recording time.
“The winners then get to re-record the song with more instruments and resubmit it to the semi-final of the competition, hoping for a chance at the grand prize of £12,000.
“It only takes a couple of minutes to cast a vote but it’d make a big difference to us if people could spare the time.”
