Implementing proposals for re-organisation: New Faculty/School administrative teams now in place

We have now completed Phase Three of our implementation of a new faculty-focussed model for administration. This included the re-designation of the School for Health as Department for Health in the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences with effect from 1 August 2010.

Following completion of Phase Three, we promised to provide an overview of the new Faculty/School administrative structures, including details of who to contact within each Faculty and the School of Management. This is now available from the Office of Policy and Planning site.

Please can you familiarise yourself with this information and update records accordingly.

It is particularly important that, with immediate effect,:

  • forms and other documentation (such as Student Handbooks) are updated to ensure that they refer to the correct posts within the new Faculty/School administrative structure;
  • all general correspondence sent to academic departments is sent to the Departmental Support Staff using the address 'Department of xxx Support Staff' (eg Department of Chemistry Support Staff). Please DO NOT address correspondence to the Departmental Administrator as these posts have now been replaced by team leaders of functions and the relevant email list will be withdrawn shortly. The new list of generic email addresses is available online.

The information on the above website will be updated as the remaining vacancies are filled and new office locations are confirmed.

In the meantime, if you are unsure who to contact within a Faculty/School, please contact the Director of Administration for that Faculty/School for advice:

A series of information sessions will be held in September 2010 for staff in professional services to brief them on the new Faculty/School administrative structure.

In the meantime, if you have any general queries regarding the new arrangements, please contact Colette Milner, Secretary of the Working Group on Business Processes.

I would like to take this opportunity to particularly thank the Directors of Administration for all of their work to ensure that the new structure was in place for the beginning of August.

Alison Price
Chair of the Working Group on Business Processes
