Student sets up picnic business

A postgraduate student from Mechanical Engineering has set up a new company to deliver picnic hampers made from local produce.

Luke Tregidgo, studying a PhD in aerodynamics, teamed up with professional chef Daniel Minty to put together a selection of sandwiches, pies, salads and desserts delivered in to homes or workplaces in a cool-bag or hamper.

Luke, Chairman of the University’s entrepreneur group BANTER, said: “The summer picnic is a British tradition and so Daniel and I wanted to provide hampers using the best quality locally sourced produce.

“We go to great lengths to make sure everything is ethically and environmentally sound, even down to biodegradable plates and cutlery.”

Bath Picnic Company is running a trial from Monday 23 August until Monday 30 August and offering staff and students at the University a £5 discount off any hampers ordered.
