Bath professor participates in commemoration of Bologna station bombing

Professor Anna Bull was invited to take part in a three-hour-long live radio programme to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the bombing massacre at Bologna train station, which saw the participation of some of the victims and relatives, together with academics, journalists, novelists and poets, as well as ordinary people who did all they could to help on the day of the terrorist attack.

Four Bath graduates shortlisted for prestigious SET Awards

Four graduates from the University of Bath have been shortlisted for the Science, Engineering & Technology Student of the Year Awards (SET Awards).

QA Code of Practice for 2010/11 now published

There are extensive revisions to the QA Code of Practice this year following a review of the efficiency and effectiveness of programme lifecycle processes, which resulted in changes to programme quality management processes, and the University’s committee structure.

University student band – Roadshow – has won the First Qualifying Contest of the YouBloom international song writing competition. Thanks to all those who voted.

Psychology professor’s paper is one of ten most downloaded articles

A paper written by Richard Velleman, Professor of mental health research, was listed as one of the most downloaded articles from Child Abuse Review in 2009. The paper was downloaded a total of 527 times from the journal’s website.

Implementing proposals for re-organisation: New Faculty/School administrative teams now in place

Following completion of Phase Three, we promised to provide an overview of the new Faculty/School administrative structures, including details of who to contact within each Faculty and the School of Management. This is now available on the University’s website at: www.bath.ac.uk/opp/adminstructure

New contract to improve print services across campus

The University is changing the way it procures its resources for the provision of all copying, printing and scanning services to improve this service. The Managed Print Service project will see one sole supplier appointed for all printing, copying and scanning equipment and equipment consumables at the University.

Help shape the future of our website

The Web Services team is looking for volunteers to help test possible solutions to their design templates, which will affect all of the University’s websites in the future. Testing sessions are on 11-13 August.

Jane Millar shares social policy research findings in Australia

Professor Jane Millar (Pro-Vice-Chancellor: Research) was in Australia in early July, visiting Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney where she presented her research findings through a series of keynote speeches, seminars, interviews and discussions with government.
