Fresh student talent hopes to grand slam her way to degree success

Tennis ace Stephanie Cornish is joining the Department of Economics this term.

Stephanie, who will be studying Economics & Politics, began playing tennis when she was eight and went on to take it up full time at the age of fourteen.

She competed in the Maureen Connolly tournament in America in September and October 2005, and also in September 2007.

She also played main draw doubles at Junior Wimbledon in 2007 and 2008, going on in 2009 to play in the Junior French Open, Wimbledon and US Open.

Stephanie chose Bath to do her degree as she was impressed with the Economics course and the Sports Training Village. She aims to build on her tennis success whilst studying.

She said “I enjoy the challenge of playing an individual sport, though competing in a team, and in particular representing my country, is a great honour and a lot of fun. I am proud of what I have achieved so far, and I hope to continue improving whilst at Bath and to compete in the 2011 World Uni Games next August.”
