A free public lecture investigating the country’s financial crisis will take place at the University of Bath on Wednesday 10 November.
Professor Chris Martin, head of the Department of Economics, will look at the underlying causes of the crisis, the symptoms and long-term effects.
Professor Martin said: “The financial crisis that began in the summer of 2007 has had a profound effect on economics, politics and public policy, and is set to dominate the next few years.
“I’ll be looking at what caused the crisis and asking whether it could have been avoided. Could policy makers have done anything and what of their response once the crisis began?
“I’ll look in detail at what the crisis implies for monetary policy and the future of inflation targeting.”
The free lecture will take place on Wednesday 10 November at 6.15pm in Lecture Theatre 5 West 2.3 at the Claverton campus. For tickets or further information please contact Sally Rose on 01225 383799 or email s.a.u.rose@bath.ac.uk There is free parking in the West car park from 5pm.
