Adverse weather conditions – 19 December(1700)

From Mark Humphriss, Chair of the Emergency Management Team

Conditions on campus

There is a substantial amount of snow and ice on campus, which is particularly affecting the car parks.  Please, therefore, take great care on campus.

This weekend

It only proved possible to open the STV and Fresh shop for reduced hours.  There was a reduced bus service (and no bus service at all until mid-morning on Saturday).    The Library, however, remains open continuously.

Monday morning

With very low temperatures again forecast for Sunday night, it is not sensible to do any clearing of the car parks and paths around campus until early on Monday morning. There is also the possibility of further snow on Monday morning.

Every effort will be made to enable the campus to operate as normally as possible on Monday. An announcement will be published on the web, Twitter and on the University’s severe weather helpline 01225 383200, by 8am on Monday morning to confirm whether or not the University will be open normally.
