Peter Wyman appointed new University Treasurer

Mr Peter Wyman became Treasurer of the University on 1 January 2011 and has been appointed to serve for three years until 31 December 2013.

He succeeds Roger Pedder who was the University's Treasurer for the past three years.

Mr Wyman was a partner in PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP and predecessor firms between 1978 and 2010 and was President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 2002/03.

He was awarded a CBE for services to the accountancy profession in 2006.

He first served on the governing body of the University (known as the University Council) between 2003 and 2006, and re-joined as an appointed member in 2009.

Mr Wyman also holds a variety of other senior appointments including Chairman of the Somerset Community Foundation, Director of the City of London Sinfonia, Senior Advisor to Albright Stonebridge Group LLC, and Chairman of Sir Richard Sutton's Settled Estates.

Mr Wyman said: “The University of Bath is a world class academic institution and it is a pleasure and a privilege to be able to support it as Treasurer.

"My predecessors, together with the Vice-Chancellor and her senior management team, have done a marvellous job in providing a sound financial platform which will stand us in good stead as we enter what is likely to be a very challenging period for UK universities."

Mr Wyman's role is expected to take the equivalent of two days a month and is unpaid.

The Treasurer exercises an overview of the University’s finances and works particularly closely with the Director of Finance and the Vice-Chancellor.
