The Vice-Chancellor’s Research Day is an annual event which showcases and celebrates research being carried out by early career academics across the University.
Deans, Associate Deans for Research and Heads of Departments are invited by the Vice-Chancellor to hear the presentations and join the discussions.
This year’s event was held on 18 January and included ten presentations, ranging from the mathematics of weather prediction to nanofluidics, via biofuels, daffodils and drugs, eye gaze in autism, community arts, energy performance of buildings, organisational change, the genetic basis of complexity, and reputation in markets.
Professor Glynis Breakwell, Vice-Chancellor, thanked the speakers and audience. She said: “The presentations were both fascinating and stimulating, as shown by the engagement of the audience and the number of questions. The research reflects the strengths within each discipline area and also highlights why Bath is renowned for research with impact – this is cutting-edge research addressing important issues in society.”
The reception afterwards provided a further opportunity for discussion and for making connections across disciplines and faculties.
