Fees & Access Working Group – update on progress

As reported in our last update, the Fees & Access Working Group (FAWG) has drafted a number of principles for fee setting and access. These have already been considered by Executive Committee and Senate, and will be considered by Council on 3 March 2011.

In addition, the Fees & Access Working Group is due to submit a report to the Vice-Chancellor’s Group (VCG) on Monday 28 February 2011 outlining its analysis to date.

As a result of the delayed publication of the Office of Fair Access (OFFA) guidance on access agreements and the Government’s White Paper on Higher Education, FAWG has been unable to draft an institutional Access Agreement to its original timescale.

In light of the short time-frame for the development of the Access Agreement, VCG agreed that the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching) should work directly with the relevant individuals to produce a draft Agreement.

In addition, a working party, including the President of the Students’ Union, will be convened to consider the nature of the student experience package under the new funding regime.
