A web marketing consultancy founded by two University of Bath graduates has won the top award in the Bath & North East Somerset Council Chairman’s Business Awards.
The awards are given to local businesses that have made a positive contribution to their community.
Bath graduates David Kelly and Adam Pope founded the Storm consultancy in 2009 with fellow director Steve Thorne. They have run free digital marketing workshops for local businesses and been active members of community groups in Bath.
They have also championed the retention of students to the city, offering internships and recruiting fellow graduates.
David and Adam graduated in 2009 in Business Administration and Computer Science. Storm Consultancy now employs six staff combining design, development and business consultancy skills. Their average age is just 25.
This is their second business award in as many months: the company recently picked up the Best New Business Award in the Bath Life Awards.
Adam Pope said: “We are absolutely delighted to win the award, which highlights the whole team’s efforts to support the Bath community.”
David Kelly added: “I think everyone in the team here is extraordinarily proud of their achievements over the last 18 months. Two awards in quick succession and a full client book are a testament to the work we’ve all put in.
“Bath is a beautiful place to live and work. Bath’s digital industry really is booming and there are fantastic graduate opportunities within the sector.”
Storm was awarded £250 towards a charity of its choice and has donated the money to the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, in recognition of David and Adam’s Cornish roots.
