Classical Indian music concert in memory of Senior Lecturer Nandu Kamat

A classical Indian music concert is being held in Bath on 5 June in memory of Senior Lecturer Kamat Ramanand, known as Nandu, who died in 2009 aged 80.

Nandu lectured at the University from its formation in the 1960s to his retirement in 1986 and his work focused on third world politics and economic political systems.

Nandu brought Indian music to the attention of people in Bath, organising a popular series of concerts which were open to the public. He also took small parties of people from Bath to India on guided tours.

His friends Jagu Bose and Prabir Nandi have organised a concert in St Michael’s Church in Broad Street on Sunday 5 June from 7pm to 10pm (doors open 6.30pm) including a recital by Partho Sarathy accompanied on the Tabla by Sanjoy Jhalla.

Tickets are £13 and include vegertarian Indian food from Pradir Nandi. All profits will go to the Japanese Tsunami Appeal.
