Bath moves up to 12th in The Times league table

We have been ranked 12th in the UK by The Times Good University Guide 2012 – one place higher than our position last year.

The league table, published in Thursday’s newspaper, is based on the following eight criteria:

  • student satisfaction
  • research quality
  • entry standards
  • student-staff ratio
  • services and facilities spend
  • completion rates
  • good honours
  • graduate prospects

In the guide Bath is featured as eighth in the UK for universities targeted by the largest number of key employers in 2010-11.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning & Teaching, Professor Bernie Morley, said: “Once again we have performed very well in a national league table and this reflects the effort of all our staff as well as the quality of the students we attract here.

“In the current economic climate and changing funding landscape, it’s particularly pleasing to see that we remain in the top ten for the graduate prospects performance measure, and that we also feature in the top ten universities targeted by the largest number of key employers.

“This is in no small part to the competitive advantage our graduates enjoy of having a high quality placement on their CV.”

The new guide also includes individual subject rankings. Bath features in the top ten for 19 subjects including being ranked number one in Social Work.
