Bath Ventures staff join RDSO

Staff from Bath Ventures (BV) have joined the Research Development & Support Office (RDSO).

A Review Group chaired by the Director of Finance concluded that the landscape of commercially funded research had evolved significantly in the three years since Bath Ventures was established. The Vice Chancellor's Group accepted the recommendation of the Review Group that there were benefits to recognising formally the close collaboration already in place between Bath Ventures and RDSO in supporting the full continuum of the research and knowledge transfer lifecycle and to Bath Ventures integrating into RDSO.

From 1 August, Consultancy Services moved into the RDSO Research Support & Funding Unit under the direction of Hazel Wallis. The Innovation Centre and Technology Transfer Office will retain the Bath Ventures identity and will transfer into the RDSO reporting to the Director, Rob Head.  Simon Bond, Director of the Innovation Centre, has been appointed as interim Head of Bath Ventures pending the confirmation of a permanent structure as an outcome of the 2011/12 annual planning round.

Ron Humphreys, the retiring Director of Bath Ventures and Dr Rob Head, Director of RDSO, welcomed the opportunity to move to a lifecycle model of research support, development and exploitation whilst maintaining the focus of RDSO on enhancing the University's research base.
