The University is very sad to announce the death of Chris Young from BUCS Department on 18 August.
Chris arrived at the University of Bath as a teenager in the summer of 1983 on a programming placement with the South West Regional Computer Centre (SWURCC). His keenness, enthusiasm and aptitude for his work were evident then and throughout his career at the University.
His placement led to a full-time job in the Technical Support team, and over the next few years he progressed onto the Operations Team where his responsibilities included maintaining data centres, which are an essential part of the University’s IT infrastructure.
Outside of work Chris was a keen gardener and a regular football referee for non-league and Conference League matches.
The funeral details have now been confirmed for 2.30pm on Thursday 1 September at Westerleigh Crematorium, Westerleigh, BS37 8QP.
Flowers can be sent to Co-operative Funeralcare, Redfield, Bristol BS5 9JS by 10am on the day of the funeral.
