Union action should not affect student experience

Message from Professor Bernie Morley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching)

Members of the University & College Union (UCU) are currently taking industrial action in support of their dispute about changes to the University Superannuation Scheme (USS) which have recently been implemented.

The action began earlier this month and involves their members 'working to contract'.

Initially, UCU has instructed its members to abide by the terms of their contracts (including their obligation to perform their duties in an efficient manner), but to do no more than that.

The Students' Union has been kept fully informed, and the impact of the industrial action will be continuously monitored by a small group which I am chairing.

At the present time we do not envisage that this will impact on your student experience, but if you encounter any disruption then please contact a Students’ Union sabbatical.
