Effectiveness Review of Council – Staff & students: We need your views!

Council is the governing body of the University. It approves the mission and strategic plan of the University and has key responsibilities in terms of finance, human resources, estates, audit and legal compliance. Further information about Council is available online.

Council has recently commissioned a review of its effectiveness. It has been six years since our last review so it is important that students and staff let us know what you think.

We are keen to consult widely within the University on the four aspects of the review and/or on any other issues which members of the University community wish to raise in relation to the effectiveness of Council.

The review is being undertaken by the Effectiveness Review Group. It will focus on four key aspects of the effectiveness of Council:

  1. Effective Governance Structures and Processes
  2. Effective Membership
  3. Effective Performance Monitoring and Measurement
  4. Effective Information and Communication

Further details of the membership of the Effectiveness Review Group and the scope of the Effectiveness Review can be found online.

If you wish to submit comments or suggestions for consideration by the Effectiveness Review Group, please send your consultation response to Colette Milner, Secretary to the Group (email: c.m.milner@bath.ac.uk, post: Office of the University Secretary, 4 West 3.4).

We are also offering an opportunity for members of staff to meet with the Group and if you are interested in doing so, please notify Colette.

If you wish to make comments in confidence to the Chair of the Group, Andrew Fraser, please email him.

The deadline for responses has been extended to Friday 27 January 2012.

Thank you for your interest in the effectiveness review. We look forward to hearing from you.
