In anticipation of the Bath International Music Festival, students and staff are being offered discounted tickets to two Schubert concerts on Tuesday 27 March.
Bath Festivals, in conjunction with BBC Radio 3, brings two concerts to the Assembly Rooms in Bath. To celebrate the 215th anniversary of Franz Schubert’s birth the radio station is devoting over 200 hours of continuous broadcasting to the composer’s life and work.
Half price tickets to the lunchtime recital by the Escher Quartet and to the evening concert by Elisabeth Leonskaja are available.
To take advantage of the offers, simply ring the Bath Box Office on 01225 463362 and quote code EQHALF for the lunchtime recital and ELHalf for the evening concert.
Please note: tickets are subject to availability and refunds on previously purchased tickets are not available.
At 1pm The Esher String Quartet, one of BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists for 2010-2012, will be playing Schubert’s String Trio in B Flat, an incomplete composition written in his nineteenth year, and his String Quartet in A Minor, nicknamed Rosamunde.
In the evening at 7.30pm, the mercurial Elisabeth Leonskaja performs Schubert’s last two Piano Sonatas, composed during the final year of his life. A protégée of Sviatoslav Richter, she has come to be recognised as a well-nigh unsurpassable Schubert specialist.
