The University’s Knowledge Transfer Account (KTA) is organising and funding a workshop on Wednesday 9 May.
The KTA aims to ensure that we communicate Bath’s research, so that it can be taken up by external organisations and have an impact.
The training day is mainly practical and provides the opportunity to learn how to handle television and radio interviews, both live and pre-recorded.
It is run by former ITV journalist Myra Lee, who now works part-time in the University’s press office as well as teaching journalism at the University of the West of England and running her own media-training company.
Myra, who has 19 years experience as a journalist in television, radio and newspapers, will be supported by freelance cameraman Alec Flurey and the University’s AV Recorded Media Manager Sacha Goodwin.
A similar series of workshops ran last year and were well-received by academics.
- Dr David Tosh, Department of Biology & Biochemistry: “Perhaps one of the best University courses I have been on.”
- Dr Rob Branston, School of Management: “It was an excellent day and I’d recommend it to others.”
- Dr Lucy O’Shea, Department of Economics: “The hands-on practical experience was excellent and extremely helpful. It was a very enjoyable day.”
Places are limited so anyone interested is being urged to book now by contacting Will Marsh, Head of Corporate Communications.
