Welcome to Tim Kaner, our new Director of Marketing & Communications

We are delighted to announce that Tim Kaner has been appointed as the University’s new Director of Marketing & Communications.

Tim will take up this newly created role on the first day after the Easter break, Wednesday 11 April 2012. He will have responsibility for leading the University’s marketing and communications functions, including development of the University brand, with direct line management responsibility for:

  • Corporate Communications
  • Imaging Design & Print Service
  • Marketing
  • Web Services.

Tim brings over two decades worth of marketing and communications experience at the highest level, most recently at leading strategic brand consultancy, The Value Engineers.

As Director of Sony Europe’s Marketing Strategy Office until 2010, he led a change programme to build excellence in customer-centric marketing across the European Electronics division. He was previously Director of Marketing Communications, having started his career in advertising.

Speaking of his appointment Tim said: “I can think of no better time to join the team at Bath. I am committed to doing everything in my power to help the University continue to build on its already excellent reputation in what is clearly a time of significant change for the whole sector.”

Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, Vice-Chancellor, said: “We are delighted to have appointed Tim to such a key new role at the University.

“He brings a vast amount of marketing and communications experience and knowledge with him, and a strong record of achievement across large and complex commercial organisations.

“He joins Bath at a challenging time with an increasingly competitive higher education global market.

“We already have an international reputation for the high quality of our research and teaching, but Tim will provide the dynamic leadership to ensure we maximise every opportunity to enhance that reputation still further.”

Born and raised in York, Tim is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and holds an MBA from the Open University Business School.
