The very high levels of student satisfaction and excellent career prospects of Bath graduates are highlighted as key strengths for the University in The Times Good University Guide 2013.
Bath is ranked 9th out of 117 universities across the UK – a rise of three places on last year.
The league table, published online and in the newspaper, is based on the following eight criteria:
- student satisfaction
- research quality
- entry standards
- student-staff ratio
- services and facilities spend
- completion rates
- good honours
- graduate prospects
Bath’s excellent showing in many of these key quality performance indicators has led to its place in the top ten nationally.
The University is ranked fourth for student satisfaction; eighth for graduate prospects; equal sixth for completion rates of its students; and ninth for the level of honours our graduates obtain.
Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath, said: “This is excellent news. We are in the top ten of every UK University league table and continue to lead the field in many key areas.
“I am particularly pleased to see Bath perform so highly in terms of the satisfaction of our students and their excellent employment prospects once they graduate.
“Engaging with and listening to our students has always been key to our efforts to improve the student experience we offer. Such a high level of student satisfaction reflects well across so many areas of University life encompassing teaching quality, support services and facilities, accommodation, and our award-winning Students’ Union.”
In The Times guide Bath is also featured as tenth in the UK for universities targeted by the largest number of key employers.
Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell added: “In the current economic climate, it’s particularly pleasing to see we are eighth in the UK for the graduate prospects performance measure, and that we also remain in the top ten universities targeted by the largest number of key employers.
“This is in no small part to the competitive advantage our graduates enjoy of having a high quality placement on their CV making them highly sought after by some of the world’s leading employers.
“Our performance in this and all University league tables is testament to the hard work and dedication of all our staff in ensuring our students enjoy their time at Bath and can look forward to a successful future.”
The new guide also includes individual subject rankings. Bath features in the top ten for 20 subjects including being ranked number one in no less than three subjects – Architecture, Accounting & Finance, and Social Work.
