Until now, the way you have booked and recorded leave has been paper-based and individually calculated.
This is about to change. Between now and the end of October, professional service and academic departments will move to a new system that enables you to request annual leave and confirm your sickness absence online.
The aim is to provide you with an easy to use and secure way to easily view and manage your leave, much like moving from a paper diary to an electronic one. This will mean that:
- Your annual leave entitlement is automatically calculated and kept up to date
- You can request leave on or off campus
- You can view your leave at anytime.
Using Employee Self Service (ESS) iTrent, the University’s new HR & Payroll system, you can request annual leave which can then be approved by your line manager. There are arrangements in the system for academic staff which link to the in- and out-of- semester periods.
The Project team and I appreciate that this will be a change for you. A number of departments are already piloting the system and their feedback is helping to improve both how the change is managed and the system is operated within the University.
