As previously announced, Howard Nicholson will retire as University Librarian on Tuesday 31 July after nearly 20 years of service.
There will be an opportunity for friends and colleagues to say farewell to Howard in the Claverton Rooms on Tuesday 31 July at 3.30pm.
Please let Sue Gowman (Ext 6084) know by Thursday 26 July if you would like to attend. Sue (Library L3.19) also has a farewell card if you’d like to sign it.
Howard joined the University in September 1992 having previously worked at the University of Sussex, and the London School of Economics.
Howard has overseen many changes during his tenure, most significantly in 1996, when the Library became one of the very first in the country to offer 24 hour opening to its staff and students.
He has been responsible for creating a modern, relevant Library service, offering a vast range of facilities, which is extremely popular with its users.
Howard was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in July 2012 in recognition of his significant contribution to the University of Bath.
