Six Undergraduate students from Shandong University recently completed an eight week summer placement in the Department of Pharmacy & Pharmacology.
The six students, Xin Liu, Ruiying Li, Lili Zhao, Chenlu Zhang, Pan Liu, and Qianyun Zhang, were selected on the basis of their academic record and an interview to participate in the Vacation Studentship Scheme, and carried out research projects under the supervision of Drs Ian Eggleston, Matthew Lloyd and Amanda Mackenzie, and Professors Mike Threadgill and Randy Mrsny. The students are now beginning their fourth year of studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Shandong.
On 30 August, the students gave a brief presentation to their colleagues on the research projects that they had been conducting.
The talks were attended by Professor David Bird, Dean of the Faculty of Science, who presented each of the students with a certificate to mark the completion of their studies in Bath.
This is the third year that the Department has hosted a group of students from Shandong, through this scheme coordinated by the International Office. Support for the students’ accommodation and social programme, delivered by the English Language Centre, was once again generously provided by the University Alumni Fund.
