The Holburne Museum is offering free access to exhibitions for all University staff and students.
The museum’s permanent collection has always been free to members of the public but the University has negotiated with the Museum that, as last year, staff and students will have free access to temporary exhibitions (on presentation of a Library card), meaning a saving of up to £6.95 per visit.
The current exhibition – Secret Splendour: the Hidden World of Baroque Cabinets – boasts some of the most expensive furniture ever made. With pieces from the Victoria and Albert Museum and Corsham Court the exhibition was recently reviewed by TheTelegraph as “Exquisite”.
Also on display over the next few weeks is Belfast Boy – Clarke’s Cabinet of Home, Heart and Hearth by Mark Clarke. Created especially for the Holburne Museum to complement Secret Splendour the piece is inspired by the death of Clarke’s Uncle Robert, a merchant seaman who died in unclear circumstances off Curacao Bay in1955.
The Holburne Museum sits within its own grounds at the end of Great Pulteney Street and is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday (and Bank Holidays) 11am to 5pm.
