University closed today and all today's examinations postponed (Friday) updated information

The University of Bath campus is closed today (Friday 18 January) due to the severe weather conditions. Only key operational staff are required on campus and they will already have been notified by their line managers.

All those who are able to work from home are asked to do so. Please see the Guidance for working at home.

Snow is forecast to continue to fall in Bath throughout the day.  No buses are currently running in the Bath area.  All routes to campus are impassable in ordinary vehicles.

Those who decide to come onto campus should take great care as roads and paths may be slippery.

All examinations scheduled for today have been postponed.  It is intended that today’s exams will instead take place in the week beginning 4 February; we will be in a position next week to confirm the date on which they will be held.  Several students have registered with us that they will be away that week for Chinese New Year.

We do understand the high importance of Chinese New Year to parts of our student body; however, our priority has to be the construction of a revised examination schedule that minimises teaching disruption and provides the most timely assessment feedback on Semester 1 units for the entire student population.

It is currently expected that examinations scheduled for Monday will take place; a decision will be taken on Monday morning by 7.30am.  Assuming examinations do proceed on Monday they will be held at 10am, 1.30pm and 5pm, in each case 30 minutes later than originally scheduled.

The Sports Training Village will be closing at 1pm today.  It will be open on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Please check the Team Bath website for further information over the weekend, particularly about the England/ Australia Netball match due to take place on Sunday.

Westwood Nursery is closed today.

For those who are on campus, the Fresh Grocery Store will remain open until 6pm today and then open on Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 11am-5pm. Fresh Express will open on Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 9am-4pm.

The Parade bar will be open 12noon-8pm on Saturday and Sunday and 4W cafe 8am-2pm on both days.

It is hoped that the Sports cafe will open as usual over the weekend to support the large event that is taking place.

Costa Coffee will be open on Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.

The Plug Bar will be open until 7pm today including full bar service and hot food.  ‘Weekend Warm-Up’ will operate as usual this afternoon.  It is hoped to open the Plug Bar as normal over the weekend, but this is not yet confirmed.

The Library will remain open, with self-service facilities available.  The Students’ Union Advice and Representation Centre will also remain open today.

The Emergency Management Team will continue to keep the position under review.  Further snow is currently forecast for Monday.  An  announcement will be placed on the University website by 7.30am on Monday morning. The University's severe weather helpline (a recorded message) will also be updated on 01225 383200.
