The Holburne Museum is offering free access to its latest exhibition – Painted Pomp: Art and Fashion in the Age of Shakespeare – to all University staff and students.
The museum’s permanent collection has always been free to members of the public but the University has negotiated with the Museum that, as last year, staff and students will have free access to temporary exhibitions (on presentation of a Library card), meaning a saving of up to £6.95 per visit.
The exhibition features one of the most important groups of Jacobean portraits in the country. The nine sumptuous full-length portraits by William Larkin, painted around 1613-18, will be displayed alongside examples of dress from the period.
The Holburne Museum sits within its own grounds at the end of Great Pulteney Street and is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday (and Bank Holidays) 11am to 5pm.
