Effectiveness Review of Senate consultation - we need your views

The Senate has recently commissioned a review of its effectiveness.  It has been six years since our last review so it is important that you let us know what you think.

We are keen to consult widely within the University on the three aspects of the review and/or on any other issues which you may wish to raise in relation to the effectiveness of Senate.

Senate is responsible for regulating and directing the academic work of the University and is regarded as the supreme academic authority of the University.

The review is being undertaken by Professor Chris Jennison (as a former member of Senate and former Dean of Science), Alison Price (as senior officer with responsibility for Senate) and Colette Milner (as Secretary to Senate).  It will focus on three key aspects of the effectiveness of Senate:

  1. Effective Membership
  2. Effective Operation and Processes
  3. Effective Information and Communication

Further details of the scope of the Effectiveness Review are available.

If you wish to submit comments or suggestions for consideration by the Effectiveness Review, please send your consultation response to:

Colette Milner, Secretary to Senate
email: c.m.milner@bath.ac.uk
post: Office of the University Secretary, 4 West 3.4

We would particularly welcome comments on the effectiveness of communication of decisions from Senate.

The deadline for responses is Friday 8th March 2013.

Thank you for your interest in the effectiveness review.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Further information about the membership and functions of Senate is available on the Senate webpages.
