University of Bath to be a partner in Futurelearn

A message from the Vice-Chancellor.

I am pleased to announce that the University of Bath has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to become a partner in Futurelearn.

Futurelearn is the initiative recently set up by the Open University in conjunction with other leading UK Institutions using innovative technology to increase accessibility to higher education for students both here and in the rest of the world.

The Universities and Colleges which are Futurelearn partners will use the platform to offer a range of free, open, online courses that will be clear, simple to use and accessible.

Similar initiatives such as Coursera, edX and Udacity are already demonstrating the potential of MOOC’s (Massive Open Online Courses) to transform access to learning globally.

Our involvement with Futurelearn is driven by a desire to increase the range of ways by which those who wish to study with us can experience the outstanding quality of the learning opportunities we offer. We look forward to launching our first programmes shortly.
