Message from Professor Colin Grant, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Internationalisation)
Our plans to raise our international profile depend upon strong research–led relationships with partner institutions across the globe.
The University is providing a number of funding schemes which will both provide practical support to academics wishing to collaborate with international partners and help to attract talented researchers to come to Bath.
Full details of these schemes, including how to apply for funding, are now on the RDSO website and you can also find out more by following my blog. The schemes will be ongoing and open for applications each year.
Highlights include:
International Researcher Mobility Support
This will support visits by Bath staff to identified key academic and other partners and incoming visits to Bath from preferred institutional partners. It will also promote high-profile seminars and conferences which include preferred partner institutions in the UK or overseas.
Closing date for applications: 11 March 2013
Research Partnership Support (available now, full roll-out starts in 2013/14)
This will support the development of co-authored publications and collaborative research bids with preferred partners. It is anticipated that these will build upon relationships established as a result of initiatives funded by the International Researcher Mobility Support scheme as well as existing partnerships.
Closing date: 19 March 2013
Global Partner Research Scholarships
Excellent PhD students from preferred partners have the opportunity to apply to study at Bath for a period of 6 months with the benefit of a full fee-waiver and a maintenance award of up to £6,000. The same support is available to Bath PhD students.
Closing date: 10 March 2013
Researcher Exchange Programme with the State of São Paulo, Brazil (FAPESP)
The Research Foundation of the State of São Paulo, Brazil, and the University of Bath are investing in a joint fund. This will support the development of collaborative proposals from researchers at the University and higher education and research institutions in the State of São Paulo, who are also Principal Investigators of ongoing FAPESP research.
Closing date: 19 March 2013
I look forward to seeing a large number of bids for each of these funding schemes. I am grateful to support of all colleagues involved in helping in their design and development.
Professor Colin Grant
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Internationalisation)
