University rises to new high in student experience rankings

The University is ranked sixth out of 102 UK institutions, a leap of 15 places, in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Student Experience Survey published today (Thursday April 25).

The survey asks 12,000 students nationwide for feedback about their university’s strengths and weaknesses, and whether they would recommend their university to friends.

Bath has seen its score improve in every element of the survey and is ranked number one in the South West region and joint first in the UK for its sporting facilities. The University is also placed joint second for both its excellent industry connections and the high quality facilities it provides.

The scores particularly highlight good student support and welfare, the excellence of the Students’ Union, good extracurricular activities and societies and a strong community atmosphere on campus.

Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell said: “This is excellent news and testament to the commitment shown by our staff to provide a high quality education and a supportive learning environment.

“Over the last few years our students have seen their University at the top of national league tables, be named as University of the Year by the Sunday Times and maintain exceptional graduate employment levels in what remains a difficult job market. Bath is truly a great place to be a student.”

Commenting on the increased student satisfaction with its industry connections, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Learning and Teaching, Professor Bernie Morley added: “We’ve developed very strong partnerships across a wide-range of business sectors and the majority of our students do a placement year during their course. In a highly competitive job market, students place even greater value on these connections which we believe has helped contribute to the high satisfaction levels here at Bath.”
