Institute for Policy Research launch conference Tuesday 14 May

Dear Colleagues,

As you are I hope already aware, the University’s new Institute for Policy Research is holding its launch conference in the East Building lecture theatre on Tuesday 14 May.

The Institute will foster inter-disciplinary research of international excellence and impact. Bridging the worlds of research, policy and professional practice, it will enable us to address some of the major policy challenges we face on a local, national and global scale.

The conference – Policy and Power: Re-thinking the Role of Policy Research – will present some of the research on which the new Institute will build. It will begin a debate with the academic community and the public at large, around the policy challenges which the Institute’s research programme will need to address.

More details can be found on the Institute’s web-pages: http://www.bath.ac.uk/ipr/events/institute-for-policy-research-launch-conference.html

If you are unable to attend the event in person, the conference will be streamed live both internally and externally. This is in line with the Institute’s vision to develop public engagement events that connect technological, environmental, social and economic challenges with their policy implications, and use their web presence as an interactive public forum.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those who have contributed to the Institute’s development and ask you all to give this important new initiative your full support.

Thank you,

Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell DBE DL
Vice-Chancellor
