Our students are the most satisfied in the UK according to the new Guardian University Guide 2014 published today.
The University is now ranked 7th out of 119 universities and colleges– a rise of two places on last year.
The Guardian’s table, published online and in the newspaper, focuses on how well a university educates its students rather than the research it conducts.
Our strong showing has helped us to maintain our position as the highest ranked university in the South West in all national tables.
As well as being placed equal first for overall student satisfaction in the table, we are ranked equal third in the UK for student satisfaction with the teaching provided and equal seventh for graduate career prospects.
Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, Vice-Chancellor, said: “Once again we have seen our ranking improve in an independent national league table of universities.
“Coming out top overall for student satisfaction is particularly pleasing as it reflects how our students see us. They clearly appreciate not just the very high quality of teaching we provide but also our superb facilities, our support services, our award-winning Students’ Union, and the real community feel of our campus.
“This latest league table ranking is testament to the hard work and dedication of staff here at Bath.”
The Guardian’s criteria for judging a university include:
- Satisfaction of final-year students with teaching, feedback & assessment and the overall experience;
- how much the University spends per student;
- the student/staff ratio;
- the career prospects of graduates;
- a value added score;
- The grades pupils have to achieve to stand a chance of being offered a place.
