A topping-out ceremony was recently held on campus to mark the completion of the main construction work for the first phase of 1 West Building refurbishments.
Martyn Whalley, Director of Estates, officially topped-out the building by completing the final roof section of a vapour barrier on the building’s new five storey extension. Those present also included representatives from Cowlin – the building contractors – and the wider project team.
This is the first of three phases of work to refurbish and extend the building to provide additional learning facilities, computer laboratories, research facilities and offices.
The work is part of our £100m campus programme to enhance our ability to deliver an outstanding student experience and an improved working environment.
The completion of the first phase of the 1 West Building refurbishments is expected in September this year.
