Support for researchers getting started with social media

The new microsite is a starting point for research staff wanting to promote their research online.

In recent months there has been an increase in demand from our researchers here at Bath for information on the use of digital networking and social media to promote their work.

The University is keen to support its staff in using digital platforms to promote research. Many of our colleagues at Bath are already actively promoting their work to peers and the public online and have found it a useful way to raise awareness of and engagement with their research.

Corporate Communications has developed a microsite that aims to give you advice if you are keen try digital platforms like Twitter, Google Scholar or LinkedIn, and will be added to over time. See http://www.bath.ac.uk/social-tools/.

This site aims to be a useful reference tool to help you get started, however if you find you have specific questions about social media use please don’t hesitate to contact the communications team by email or on ext.6883.

The Corporate Communications team is also keen to help you promote your existing social networks. If you wish you may let them know about these using the same email address.

The Researcher Development Unit will also be offering a training series on various aspects of social media use for research in winter 2013/14.
