The Department of Architecture & Civil Engineering (ACE) recently hosted Professor Paulo Eduardo Fonseca de Campos from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Sao Paolo (FAUUSP).
The visit was arranged to discuss student and staff mobility between the two institutions in the fields of architecture and civil engineering.
A Memorandum of Understanding with FAU-USP is planned and investigations into new funding streams to underpin this exciting venture have already begun.
Professor Tim Ibell, Head of Department, said: “Meeting with Paulo was a great pleasure. We share an identical vision for student and staff mobility.
“From here we can build on our existing relationships with the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL) and the University of Porto to create a ’square’ relationship amongst these four strong institutions associated with the built environment.
“This visit has formed the basis for easy future online and face-to-face discussions to ensure that our plans work out.”
Future plans involve collaboration in the exciting field of Digital Architectonics. This project will be led by Dr Paul Shepherd from ACE and Professor Fonseca de Campos, who previously met to discuss joint working at the ISCTE-IUL.
Professor Fonseca de Campos’ visit was led by Professor Ibell, supported by Dr Paul Shepherd, Dyfed Griffiths, Professor Alex Wright, Dr Andrew Heath and Dr Antony Darby.
