University receives very positive QAA Institutional Review

We have received a very positive report from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) following its review of the University’s learning and teaching provision.

The review which concluded in May 2013 involved visits by the QAA’s panel of reviewers and a process of self-evaluation undertaken by both the University and the Students’ Union.

The report stated that our academic standards, the quality of our student learning opportunities, and the enhancement of student learning opportunities all meet UK expectations. The quality of information about learning opportunities was commended.

The review identified a number of examples of good practice. These include the promotion of student engagement and the University’s willingness to listen and respond to student views, and the institution-wide commitment to placement provision and support.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, said: “I’d like to thank all those who contributed to the QAA process. A great deal of detailed preparation is needed to ensure that the Review team can see the high quality of our learning and teaching provision and it is pleasing to see this recognised in the report.”

Ian Robinson, Chief Executive of the Students’ Union, said: “The outcomes of this review reflect the way in which the University and the Students’ Union work so closely together in partnership. They will help inform our next steps in continuing to enhance the learning and teaching provision and wider student experience here at Bath.”
