Bath is University of the Year for Student Experience in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide

The University of Bath has today (September 24) been awarded the title of ‘University of the Year for Student Experience’ by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014.

Bath tops the guide’s table of 121 universities for having ‘the most satisfied students in Britain’.

The award is announced in a special pull-out of today’s Times newspaper. A feature on the University of Bath highlights many of its strengths including: the compact campus; its close-knit community feel; fantastic facilities and accommodation; and the placement opportunities and extra-curricular activities on offer to its students.

Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath, said: “Giving our students the best possible academic experience and paving the way for them to succeed is our objective.

“To have our efforts recognised by this award is great. It will be appreciated by everyone at the University.”

The student experience league table is drawn up using the proportion of positive responses (‘agree’ and ‘definitively agree’) from students to statements in the 2013 National Student Survey (NSS), relating to teaching quality; academic support, assessment and feedback; course organisation; learning resources; and overall satisfaction with courses.

Today’s award follows on from a third place ranking in yesterday’s Times supplement focusing on graduate prospects, and an overall ranking of seventh in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014.

The University was also awarded the title of ‘Best Campus University’ in this year’s guide.
