Watch the trailer for our first MOOC

Our first MOOC is open for registration on the FutureLearn platform.

The MOOC, which has been developed by Dr Momna Hejmadi of the Department of Biology & Biochemistry, is called ‘Inside cancer: how genes influence cancer development’.

This is a six week course offering an introduction to understanding how genetics influences the development and spread of cancer. It is scheduled to go live on 20 January 2014.

If you are interested in finding out more about the University’s approach to MOOC’s please come along to the lunchtime seminar on MOOCs which take place on Thursday 21 November and is open to all staff.

Venue: Chancellors’ Building 3.5

Time: 12.30 – 2.00 pm

The seminar will be introduced by Professor Bernard Morley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) and will provide information on topics including

  • an introduction to MOOCs and FutureLearn
  • information on the University of Bath's current MOOCs developments
  • a demonstration of the FutureLearn platform
  • some ideas around how MOOCs can help the University compete in a global market

A panel of staff drawn from the team involved in developing MOOCs will take questions.
