University furthers its links with Tecnológico de Monterrey

Representatives from across the University met with counterparts from Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico ahead of a week-long visit to South America and a ‘Mexico Day’ for students.

Professor Joaquin Guerra, Vice President for International Affairs, and Dr Roberto Palacios-Rodriguez, the UK Representative of ITESM, visited Bath on Friday 6 March to continue the relationship as part of being a Strategic Partner.

In a meeting with Professor Colin Grant, Ms Maggie Ward Goodbody, Dr Peter Nuttall, Dr Laura Torrente, Dr Leslie Wehner, Ms Lorna Cuckow and Ms Amber Allonby the conversation was focussed on plans for next steps – further opportunities for student exchange and a more multi-lateral approach to our international partnerships, as well as the Dual Year of UK and Mexico 2015.

This Dual Year will include a visit to Mexico by representatives from the IRO, Department of Mathematics, IPR, PoLIS, Mechanical Engineering and the School of Management in April, as well as a Mexico Day on Thursday 30 April across campus showcasing Mexican culture through food, dance, music and film.

Reflecting on the visit Professor Grant, Pro Vice Chancellor (Internationalisation), said: “ITESM is a jewel in the Mexican Higher Education crown. Its strong commitment to internationalisation, graduate employment and global citizenship make it a first-class partner for the University that neatly complements our partnership with UNAM.”
