University staff to start work in Manvers Street

As announced last year, the University has bought the freehold of Bath Police Station in Manvers Street to provide much-needed additional capacity and unlock potential for the expansion of our activities both on campus and in the city.

The first phase of the University’s use of the building will see the majority of Finance & Procurement relocating to level 4 of Manvers Street on Monday 20 April.

The Procurement, Payroll, Pension, MIS, Credit Control and Insurance Services teams will relocate; the Cashiers, Student Finance, Process Change (Agresso) and Accommodation and Hospitality Services teams will stay on campus.

All staff will be contactable on their existing extension numbers following the move and the internal post service will be extended to include Manvers Street.

The Payroll team will provide a surgery on campus each payday to answer any pay queries and staff will continue to be able to book an appointment with the Pension Officer on campus.

Details of any changes to working processes and practices will be communicated via the Finance & Procurement website.

Information about additional University activities to be located in Manvers Street will be communicated in due course.

The building will be within the University IT network with new facilities provided to enable video conferencing with colleagues on campus and elsewhere.

Where colleagues relocating to the Police Station will incur additional travel costs on their trip to and from work, the University has agreed to pay a travel supplement to cover the price of a daily return journey by public transport between the Claverton Down campus and the Police Station. This arrangement will continue for three years.

Travel expenses will continue to be paid to colleagues who need to attend a meeting on campus whilst working at the Police Station (or vice versa) in exactly the same way as any other legitimate travel expense incurred whilst on University business.

Use of the building in Manvers Street will be shared with Avon & Somerset Constabulary for a period of up to 8 months.

During the shared use period, University staff and their visitors will have separate access at the front of the building. The Police will have a ground floor reception and the sole use of the building’s first floor.

Once the Police have moved out, the building will be renamed.
