Uni up for two THE Leadership & Management Awards

The University has been shortlisted for two top awards at the upcoming Times Higher Education Leadership & Management Awards 2015.

The annual awards celebrate the best in leadership and management in UK higher education, whilst showcasing the best examples of innovation, teamwork and enterprise in the sector.

We are up for both ‘Outstanding International Strategy’ and ‘Outstanding Strategic Planning Team’, recognising the great work done by the International Relations Office, and the Office of Policy and Planning respectively.

This work includes a range of initiatives to enhance space utilisation and space planning by The Office of Policy and Planning.

Nicky Kemp, Director, said: “This is the second year in succession that the team has been shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Strategic Planning Team’ category, a category that was only introduced in 2014.

“Space management initiatives in 2013/14 included creating capacity for academic growth by identifying space efficiency gains across campus and utilising the planning process to trigger the production of refurbishment schedules for our general teaching accommodation, sports facilities and public access pc’s.”

The Outstanding International Strategy nomination recognises Bath’s achievements since beginning a new chapter in our international strategy, which includes the appointment of the first Pro-Vice-Chancellor Internationalisation; a new Internationalisation White Paper being launched; and an enhanced International Relations Office being established in February 2013.

“The University has fully embraced an understanding of internationalisation as institutional transformation driven by a strong partnership ethos,” said Caroline Baylon, Director of International Partnerships and Head of International Relations.

In the last 24 months significant investment has delivered:

  • Research partnership – developing 25 multi-disciplinary partnerships on five continents
  • Student mobility – the University has introduced an innovative PhD mobility scheme: both to and from our Strategic Partners. Numbers of students engaged in undergraduate study exchange have increased by 25%
  • Student recruitment – a market diversification plan has been implemented, whilst overseas student numbers continue to grow and the team has maintained a highly quality approach to student recruitment
  • Partnerships with Postgraduate – funding agencies such as Colciencias (Colombia) and DIKTI (Indonesia) have been added to our existing partnerships portfolio.
  • Cultural change – international engagement is now recognised in criteria for reward and recognition

The Awards, in partnership with the Leadership Foundation, take place on 18 June, at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
