A new name for 18 Manvers Street

Our plans to transform the former police station into a city centre learning zone with offices for student-facing services have just received planning consent. The project is currently out to tender with contractors and work is expected to begin in April.

The £4.5 million redesign will create new study space, training rooms and a coffee bar alongside offices for the Students’ Union, Widening Participation Office, Careers Service, Student Services and Academic Skills Centre who join colleagues from Finance & Procurement.

To mark the transformation, the University will rename the building and is looking for your suggestions.

The new name should make a statement about our identity in the City and:

  • be impactful, distinctive and inspirational
  • fit with the University’s vision, mission and values and reflect our core purpose
  • not constrain how the building might be used in the future
  • comply with the University’s building naming policy.

If you have a suggestion for a name, please email your idea to the Communications Team by Friday 11 March.

See all the suggestions to date.

Suggestions made by staff and students will be reviewed and a name chosen by the Vice-Chancellor.
