Future vision for School of Management

The Vice-Chancellor’s Group has endorsed the future vision for the School of Management and investment plans to maintain and enhance the School’s excellence in teaching and research.

Plans are at an early stage but will focus on:

  • enhancing our external engagement and recruitment to attract the brightest minds, building on the School’s already strong base of undergraduate experience and provision of postgraduate education;
  • improving our infrastructure by developing a new purpose-built space on campus to offer state of the art facilities including contemporary teaching spaces and trading rooms; and
  • increasing our bespoke postgraduate career development support and strengthening engagement with both alumni and employers.

Professor Veronica Hope Hailey, Dean of the School of Management, said: “We operate in a highly competitive and crowded environment alongside other UK and international business schools. We already have an excellent reputation for research and undergraduate experience thanks to the incredible efforts of our team.

“Our vision, as part of the University’s strategy, is to become a premier provider of postgraduate education. We want to build on our current successes attracting the brightest students, world class academics and internationally prominent employers.”

The School will continue to focus on the quality of student experience and balancing excellence in teaching and research will remain essential to all its programmes. Retaining the distinctiveness of practice-based learning for postgraduates will also be key.

As the University and its School of Management celebrate 50 years by ‘looking further’, this vision is the start of an exciting new chapter for the business school.
