Good University Guide places Bath in top 10 for graduate prospects

The University of Bath has been ranked seventh nationally for graduate prospects and best in the South West, according to the latest The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017.

The Guide, which overall places the University 12th in the league table of 128 institutions, highlights how students at Bath enjoy some of the highest rates of employment - with 85.4 per cent of graduates landing professional jobs or going into further study within six months of leaving – and also some of the highest salaries. The average starting salary for Bath graduates is in excess of £26,000.

The strong performance of graduate prospects points to the value of the University’s placement scheme undertaken by two thirds of students in the private, public or not-for-profit sector giving them real-world, relevant experience.

The University maintains its 12th place in the league table from 2016, calculated on the basis of nine indicators including student satisfaction with teaching quality and their wider student experience, research quality, and investment in the campus and its facilities.

President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell said: "The University is very proud of the excellent graduate job prospects we offer our students and we are delighted this is highlighted in the Good University Guide. It’s testament to the calibre of our students, and the excellent opportunities we provide to prepare them for careers upon graduating.

"As we celebrate the University’s 50th anniversary our strong ranking reflects our achievements in world-leading research, excellent teaching and the all-round student experience we offer."
