New lay Council member

We are delighted to welcome John Preston, a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and The Chartered Institute of Taxation, to University Council.

We are delighted to welcome John Preston to University Council.

John left PricewaterhouseCoopers in June 2014 after 34 years, 23 of them as a partner. During that time he worked with some of the firm’s largest global clients particularly, but not exclusively, in the financial services sector and in mergers and acquisitions. He also held a number of senior management roles both in the UK and as part of the Firm’s Global Network.

Deputy President and a long serving Council member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, he will become President in May 2017.

He is also the current Chair of the Institute’s Examination Committee and is a past Chair of its Education Committee and its Membership and Branches Committee.

He is a trustee of both the PwC and DH&S Pension schemes with joint assets of over £2.5bn and a member of the Investment Committee.

He is a Mathematics graduate of the University of Kent at Canterbury

John has been appointed to the University Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee.
